Holds a Medical Degree with Honors and a PhD in Medicine; Fellow at the Department of Surgery, University of Sheffield, England. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and holds Seat No. 6 at the Academia Nacional de Medicina. He serves as a consultant at the Hospital Español, Hospital de Clínicas “José de San Martín”, and Hospital Naval de Buenos Aires, and is a member of the Advisory Commission of the Council for the Certification of Medical Professionals.

He is an honorary member of the Asociación Argentina de Cirugía, the Academia Argentina de Cirugía, the Academia de Ciencias Médicas de Córdoba, the Academia Nacional de Medicina de Venezuela, the American Surgical Association, and the American College of Surgeons, among other surgical societies in Chile, Bolivia, and Colombia. He served as President of the Academia Nacional de Medicina, the Asociación Argentina de Cirugía, the Sociedad Argentina de Gastroenterología, and the Consejo Académico de Ética en Medicina.

He has published numerous scientific papers and book chapters in his field. In 2023, he was honored with the “Living Legend of Argentine Surgery” award during the 93rd Argentine Congress of Surgery, presented by the Asociación Argentina de Cirugía. His other honors include Master of Medicine, Master Surgeon, and Master of Argentine Gastroenterology. He has been recognized for Medical Research Excellence and received the Cid Campeador, Arc de Triomphe, and “Example and Future of Medical Education” awards. He was also honored with the Francisco Hernández Order of Merit (FEPAFEM), the Platinum Konex Award, and was named Illustrious Citizen of the City of Buenos Aires.
