Graduated doctor with Honor diploma and Phd, Fellow at the Department of Surgery at the University of Sheffield, England.

He is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Buenos Aires, occupies seat No. 6 in the National Academy of Medicine, is a consultant at Hospitals Español, Clínicas José de San Martín and Naval from Buenos Aires city and a member of the Advisory Commission of the Council of Certification of Medical Professionals.

He is an honorary member of the Argentine Association of Surgery, the Argentine Academy of Surgery, the Academy of Medical Sciences of Córdoba, the National Academy of Medicine of Venezuela, the American Surgical Association and the American College of Surgeons. Also from Societies of Surgeons of Chile, Bolivia and Colombia, among others.

He was president of the National Academy of Medicine, the Argentine Association of Surgery, the Argentine Academy of Surgery, the Argentine Society of Gastroenterology and the Academic Council of Ethics in Medicine.

He published numerous scientific papers and book chapters on the specialty.

He has been distinguished as Master of Medicine, Master Surgeon, Master of Argentine Gastroenterology, for Medical Work in Scientific Research, Cid Campeador, Arc de Triomphe, Example and Future of Medical Education, Francisco Hernández Order of Merit by the Pan American Federation of Faculties and Schools of Medicine, Platinum Konex and Distinguished Citizen of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires awarded by the Legislature.
