Jorge Neira
President – Founding member
Dr. Jorge Neira is a physician graduated with Honors from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) and a specialist in Intensive Care Medicine. A certified Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, he has served as President of the National Academy of Medicine of Buenos Aires since 2026, an institution he joined in 2006 as a Full Member.
He is a corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Córdoba and a Corresponding Academic of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Murcia (Spain).
A leading figure in trauma and emergency care, he has served as President of the Argentine Society of Intensive Care (SATI), the Argentine Society of Trauma Medicine and Surgery, and the Panamerican Trauma Society. He was Deputy General Director of SAME (Buenos Aires City Emergency Medical Service) and a member of the Advisory Council to the Minister of Health of the City of Buenos Aires, among other leadership roles.
An educator and academic, he was Associate Professor at Favaloro University and currently directs the Specialist Program in Critical Care Medicine at the Argentine Catholic University. His scientific output includes more than 80 papers in national and international journals, co-authorship of over 150 book chapters, editorship of specialty books, and presentations of more than 200 papers at national and international conferences.
His distinctions include the “SATI President Award 2001,” Physician of the Year 2007, Master of Argentine Medicine Award, Recognition Diploma from the Panamerican Trauma Society, Konex Award 2013, and recognition as a Distinguished Personality by the Buenos Aires City Legislature.
His career positions him as a key figure in the development of trauma systems in Argentina and Latin America.
